We are very proud to be one of the first (if not the first) B&Bs to have been assessed and accredited with Produced in Northumberland certification. This is in recognition that we make our own sausages, baked beans, floddies, and cakes on the premises, as well as ensuring that our eggs, jams, smoked fish, honey, mustard and bread are all from local Northumberland producers. We are also accredited with "Produced in Northumbria" for many other items supplied slightly wider afield but still within the ancient North East Kingdom of Northumbria.


We believe that, after a long journey, your relaxation should start as soon as possible. Once you've settled into your room, what better way to unwind than to come down to the Conservatory, Morning Room or Garden for a pot of tea and a piece of our home-made toasted Selkirk Bannock, or other afternoon treat.


They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and is certainly a significant part of a Bed & Breakfast. Included in the room rate is a quality breakfast offering a good choice of locally sourced produce & regional specialities. It is served in the large airy dining conservatory around a communal table so you can share experiences with the other guests.

Having made your selection from the menu, help yourself to cereals, fruits and juices from the buffet, whilst we prepare the cooked part of your meal - your food is cooked to order from locally sourced produce, ensuring your food is freshly served at all times. (see the section on Our Food Heroes)

The traditionalists will go for the Full English comprising of our own sausage made to our recipe on the premises, Ayrshire bacon, black pudding, egg, Floddie (a regional speciality we are reviving), tomato and our own home-made baked beans served on the side.

For that touch of luxury, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon served on a toasted muffin is another favourite.

Do Seahouses or Craster have the best smoked fish? Try a Seahouses kipper served on the bone with brown bread & butter, or a piece of smoked haddock with a lightly poached egg.

To round the meal off, we have a wide selection of marmalades, curds and preserves (supplied solely by the Mad Jam Woman) to accompany as much freshly made toast as you require - once you've tried one of the marmalades, you have to compare with the others - which will be your favourite?

Evening Meal

The Percy Arms, in the village, has recently been renovated and offers very good locally sourced food in very pleasant surroundings - and is only 200 yds up the road. We are also only a short distance from Wooler and other villages that have a range of pubs, restaurants and take-aways so we have sample menus of these restaurants that other guests and ourselves can recommend.

Bacon Floddies are a regional speciality made from potato, onion and bacon. Originally made by Tyneside men digging the Manchester Ship Canal who cooked them on their shovels in the open fire. We also use sun dried tomatoes as a vegetarian option, but no longer cook them on a shovel.
